No one makes a ribbon connector with a male connector on one side and female on the other. Is you model different? If not, how did you resolve that problem. Called the shop you listed and he said you brought the cable already configured correctly. I have the same problem with a CVP 55 and while I want to doctor a cable as you suggest I need a little more guidance, if you would be so kind. Basically I need to know if I need a plain floppy cable to start with or if I need one of the ones with some of the conductors twisted round as a block (as used in computers). If someone that has got theis to work could email me a picture of the completed cable that would be the greatest help. If anybody knows where I could buy such a device I would be grateful. Next: Is there a solution for installing a hard drive into a cvp 59 or cvp207. I know the psr9000 has provision for a hardrive. Note, however, that when I first tried it, I wasn't careful and went to a place that used an old "twisted" floppy drive cable designed for use with 2 drives on the same cable, which didn't work because the twist affects pins 10 and 12, but when we used a straight cable like the original, it fixed it as indicated and enabled me to use a "new" (i.e., non-as-ancient) replacement floppy drive in the machine. Per Yamaha service, the original replacement floppy is available, but for $168, parts only, so you saved me a bundle too. I had it rewired at Green Village Computers in NJ (973-377-5232) with an old cable they had lying around and they are the ones that pointed out the twist problem. I think it may still have the "doesn't recognize new disk" problem but simply turn the Clavinova off to start again. I have tried reset umpteen times, and still no change to this. I can connect to my XP system and run Recovery Utility. I have tried changing firmware. Nothing seems to work. I even opened the back and removed and replaced the battery. Does anyone have other ideas on this? How can I get this to bootup to the normal OS screen?
